The High Lonesome Ranch - Debeque, CO

Ranch Information

The High Lonesome Ranch waters teem with large, strong trout that will satisfy nearly every angler from novice to expert and provide a truly unique and unparalleled angling experience. Brown, rainbow, cutthroat, brook and cuttbows swim in our private waters. Only accessed by our guests, these fish grow large and healthy amid 200 square miles of pristine wilderness.

For many anglers, there is no angling experience as challenging and rewarding as sight casting to large selective trout. Trout over 13 pounds have come to hand here, and 6-8 pound fish are not uncommon. This is just one kind of fishing we offer at the High Lonesome Ranch.

As our private spring creek meanders down our valley it forms an almost endless series of ponds and small lakes. Many of these waters provide the ideal environment for sight casting to fish, some of which reach near epic proportions. It's not unusual for our guests to catch the largest fish of their lives during a visit.

Because of our setting, we are virtually unaffected by spring runoff in the Rocky Mountains giving us one of the longest fishing seasons anywhere in Colorado. We fish from late March into November every year. For beginners, the small water and big trout provide just the right setting to perfect their developing fly-fishing skills. Many of our waters provide manicured access that allows easy casting with no wading required. For older or handicapped anglers, this is often a pleasant surprise.

Yet there are also places that will test even the most accomplished expert. Watching a 10 pound fish sip a dry in a tight setting can create a most satisfactory experience for any angler. And trying to land such a fish will make your heart beat faster. Much faster.

Guides

All anglers on the ranch are accompanied by some of the best guides in the business. Our current guide staff has a combined total of over 70 years of guiding experience, not just in the Rocky Mountains, but all over the continent. Patient and helpful, they'll provide as much or as little assistance as you require. Just tell them what you want and they'll be glad to help out. If you feel you need more work on your casting or fishing technique, you may want to consider one of our specialized clinics.

Fly Shop:

We maintain a professional fly shop at the ranch stocked with Cabela's and Orvis products. We have a complete assortment of rods, reels, flies and clothing. Rental equipment is also available.

Other Nearby Waters:
