Fishing the Chesapeake Bay from the Happy Harbor Marina in Deale (MD)with Captain John “CJ” Spangler. Captain John Spangler (aka,"CJ"), has over 30 years of experience in charter boat fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. As a young boy he and his family traveled to Rock Hall, Maryland, for their summer vacation, where he mated for an old salt, Captain Farnsworth Sewell. His love of the Bay and fishing continued throughout his childhood and into his adulthood. In the mid 1970's, he was the Director of Waterfront at St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he ran his first charter, "The Golden Run". In the 1990's, he owned and operated the "Osprey", out of Solomon's Island, Maryland. He is now the proud owner/operator of "Catnip".
The "Catnip" is a 46' Harper-Jones custom Bay Built fishing machine powered by twin 3208 Caterpillar Diesels. She is equipped with radar, GPS, fish finder, marine head, and is air conditioned.
The 2006 Fishing Season:
Spring Rock Fishing April 15 - May 15
"Summer-Fall" Rock Fishing May 16 - December 15
Drum Fishing May 25 - July 31
Croaker (Hardhead) Fishing May 25 - August 30
Flounder, Bluefish, Trout & Spot June 1 - September 30
Spanish Mackerel Fishing August 1 - September 30
