The Lodge
Nueces Canyon Lodge was developed to take advantage of the tremendous white wing and mourning dove concentrations that Central Texas offers. Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine refers to the areas around Uvalde, Texas as the best counties in the state for dove hunting. And Nueces Canyon Lodge is ideally situated to take advantage of those opportunities. Located north of Uvalde on the Nueces River, we have access to prime hunting properties, offering more than 18,000 acres of sunflowers, sesame seed and milo fields. Other properties offer afternoon tank and pass shooting.
Our facilities are immaculate and offer a pristine Hill Country setting and provides superb lodging. Our meals are expertly prepared and served and our guides keep in touch with local farmers for up to the minute bird reports in order to put you in the hottest spots to make each hunt thrilling and memorable.
We also have access to mountain biking, jet skiing, clay shoots and fly fishing in the Nueces River, one of the finest fly fishing rivers in Texas.
Seasons & Rates
2005-2006 Texas Dove Hunting Dates:
Central Zone: Sept. 1 - Oct. 31 with a 12-bird daily bag limit.
South Zone: Sept. 23 - Nov. 4 with a 12-bird daily bag limit.
In the Special White-winged Dove Area in the south zone, the season would run Sept. 3, 4, and Sept. 10 - 11. During the first two weekends, the bag limit would be 12 in the aggregate, no more than 5 mourning dove or 2 white-tipped dove. The bag limit for the remainder of this season would be the same as the rest of the South Zone.
Inclusion
Deluxe accommodations, access to all common areas, all meals at the lodge with wines, beer, soft drinks and complimentary open bar and cleaning and packaging of game.
Exclusions
Travel from point of origin to Nueces Canyon Lodge, shot gun shells, hunting licenses, all gratuities, and items of a personal nature.
Deposit
A 50 % deposit per person is required to confirm a reservation. Deposits are nonrefundable unless client replacements are found by canceling party. Final payment is due 90 days prior to departure. No refund will be made for unused land transportation, accommodations or meals included in the tour. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment by Nueces Canyon Lodge or its agents is acknowledgement that registrant has read and accepts cancellation/refund and responsibility clauses.
Rates
$550.00 per person.
Accomodations
The accommodations consist of three ranch style homes, each are three bedroom/three private baths dwellings and we can service up 30 hunters at a time. The Upper House is well suited for larger groups and provides a sitting or meeting room. The Lower House accommodates smaller groups and couples.
Each building has a covered porch and offers dramatic views of the sun and moon rising over the hill country in the east. Turkeys roost in the oak trees overlooking the river and can be observed browsing in the river in the morning.
Breakfast and dinner are served at our new 2000 square foot restaurant along with our open complimentary bar. In addition to other amenities we have two satellite television areas, card tables and access to the Nueces River for fishing, swimming or relaxing.
When you arrive in camp on the first afternoon, you are taken to your room to get settled in. A casual lunch and social mixer is served at the pavilions to provide you a chance to meet and greet your fellow hunters and our staff.
Orientation is provided before you leave for your first hunt.
Upon return from the hunt, your birds will be tended to and you will be given time to freshen up before dinner.
Dinner begins with appetizers and cocktails. We try to serve game appetizers at dinner. After everyone arrives at the pavilions, the chef serves a gourmet dinner.
The first night is Steak Night. Our grillmaster cooks 16 oz. rib eyes to a perfect medium rare and serves them to you directly from the grill. A fresh salad and our signature grilled tomatoes and garlic mashed potatoes makes Steak Night a crowd pleaser. Desserts include bread pudding every night plus the chef's choice.
Breakfast is cooked at the pavilions and can include bacon, eggs to order,breakfast breads, fruit bar, tacos, potatoes, etc.
Lunch includes hamburgers, Mexican food, homemade salsas, and myriad other specials that come to the chef's mind on any given day.
Dinner on the second night can range from roast pork loin stuffed with dried fruit and walnuts to coq au vin (chicken in wine sauce) to roast beef with accompanying appropriate side dishes.
Any and all special dietary needs are expertly accommodated.
You'll never go hungry at Nueces Canyon Lodge.
The Uvalde, Texas Airport, is located 30 miles away, provides facilities for most private or corporate aircraft (day or night).
If you are flying please coordinate your arrival time with us so you can be picked up at Uvalde Airport between 10:00 and 11:30 A.M. on arrival date.
Those driving should schedule your arrival at the Nueces Canyon Lodge by at least 12:00 noon on arrival date. This allows time to check into your room and change into hunting clothes before lunch. Lunch is served at 1:00 P.M.
Notes: Nueces Canyon Lodge adheres strictly to Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Laws. It is illegal to possess more than a two day limit per person on property or while traveling. In addition, birds cannot be commingled with another person birds unless a Wildlife Resource Document is properly filled out and accompanies the birds to the final destination. Nueces Canyon Lodge asks that our clients drink responsibly.
